It's no secret among my friends and peers that I find solace and peace on the open road. This evening as I drove home, I couldn't help but think of my girls and how much I was going to miss them this week.
Two hours into the trip, my mind was creating a deep thought about the morning before Elizabeth was born, the haste with which I raced through the morning darkness to catch up with my wife as she was flown to Tucson...
I thought, "here I am, 75 days later, forging ahead through the evening darkness to my home so that I can finally go back to work and do what's necessary to provide for my family. "
Five minutes later, amid my pensive little daydream, I forgot to slow down for the 55 mph zone. I got pulled over by a state trooper who thankfully let me off with a warning. So, never mind wherever I was going with that train of thought.
I completed the third hour of my trip safely and slowly. My two dogs are happy to see me, happy to pick up where we left off. Let's hope my first day back at work tomorrow goes just as smoothly.
I am forever grateful to all those who helped us out during this journey, spiritually, financially, kind words, or what have you. It has been a real slice of life. I look forward to whatever comes next and pray that it goes well.
